Our CAS team acts as an outsourced finance and accounting department tailored to mid-market companies, closely held businesses, and entrepreneurs within our Texas communities.
The CAS Senior is responsible for delivering high-quality accounting and advisory client services work, ensuring work is completed accurately, timely, and in accordance with firm standards and professional guidelines. This role requires prior public accounting experience and strong skills using QuickBooks (QB) for client bookkeeping and reporting support.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and review accounting engagements for a range of client industries (e.g., compilations, reviews, and related accounting support).
- Prepare, maintain, and analyze general ledger activity and financial statement components.
- Lead client data gathering, transaction coding, and reconciliation workflows using QuickBooks.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations (bank, credit cards, A/R, A/P, and other key accounts).
- Work with clients to ensure accurate and timely financial records and documentation.
- Coordinate with managers on engagement planning, scope, timelines, and deliverables.
- Identify issues, propose solutions, and resolve client questions.
- Maintain engagement workpapers and documentation in accordance with firm policies.
- Assist with onboarding and training junior staff as needed.
- Support additional firm needs such as special projects, internal process improvements, and quality reviews.
Required Qualifications
- Prior public accounting experience required.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks (QB) (including setup, data cleanup, categorization, and reporting).
- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and financial statement preparation.
- Strong reconciliation and documentation skills; ability to trace transactions and ensure completeness.
- Excellent communication skills with clients and team members.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple engagements under deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (required) and comfort working with accounting/reporting tools.
- Ability to work onsite/in-office in Houston.
Preferred Qualifications (Strongly Desired)
- Experience with complex review.
- Exposure to industry-specific accounting (construction, professional services, etc.).
- CPA-track or relevant accounting credentials.
- Experience using CCH or similar tools.
- Prior experience mentoring or reviewing lower-level staff work.
