Sherry Tolbert, CPA, brings deep experience and an entrepreneurial perspective to her role as a Principal at abip. With a career spanning local CPA firms, Big Four public accounting, industry roles, and business ownership, Sherry offers clients a well-rounded, practical approach to tax planning and compliance. She specializes in serving businesses and business owners, helping them minimize tax liability through thoughtful entity structuring and strategic use of tax rules aligned with their long-term goals.

Throughout her career, Sherry has worked with a wide range of industries, giving her the ability to tailor solutions to each client’s unique operational and financial needs. She is particularly passionate about helping business owners grow their companies in ways that support both business success and personal objectives.

Professional Background

Sherry joined abip in 2025 as a Senior Manager and is now serving as a Principal. Prior to joining the firm, she built a diverse professional background by working at several local CPA firms, spending time in a Big Four environment, and holding roles within large local industry organizations.

Most notably, Sherry owned and operated her own CPA firm for 13 years, where she focused on closely held businesses and their owners. This firsthand experience as a business owner allows her to serve as a trusted advisor who truly understands the challenges, opportunities, and decision-making pressures her clients face. She enjoys collaborating with owners to design tax-efficient strategies that support sustainable growth and personal financial goals.

Education and Associations

Sherry began her college education at The University of Texas at Austin before relocating to California. After starting a family, she returned to Texas and completed her accounting degree at The University of Texas at San Antonio.

She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA).
