Roberto Colon, CPA, is a senior manager at ABIP, P.C. and brings over 14 years of experience to the firm. He is a leader in the firm’s audit practice and views every client as unique. As a native of Puerto Rico, Roberto began his accounting career in Puerto Rico and currently serves a diverse array of the firm’s audit clients in areas such as manufacturing and distribution, construction, oilfield services, waste management, and storage facilities. Roberto is not only a CPA but also participates in community service by preparing meals, clothes, supplies, etc. for the homeless and transient individuals. Roberto is also a self-proclaimed “DIY Person” who wants to fix things himself and even enjoys doing home remodeling, plumbing, and electrical work. When he is not “DIYing”, he also likes traveling, fishing, gardening, and playing the guitar.

Professional Background

Roberto started his accounting career in bookkeeping but once he found his love for auditing, he didn’t look back. He started his audit career at a small CPA firm in Puerto Rico where he handled mostly manufacturing clients. Seeking a better life for he and his family, he moved to Houston in 2012. Once in Houston, Roberto continued to broaden his experience by auditing large companies in various industries, including logistics, manufacturing, distribution, construction, oilfield services, professional services, technology, investment firms, and many others. He also assisted clients with accounting for mergers and acquisitions and the implementation of new accounting and auditing standards.

Education and Associations

Roberto graduated from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, with a BBA in Accounting. He is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
