Gil Alonzo, CPA

Gilbert (" Gil") R. Alonzo, Jr. is the President and Managing shareholder of Alonzo, Bacarisse, Irvine, & Palmer, P.C. ("ABIP"). He is a Certified Public Accountant with over 35 years of experience. He is member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Houston Chapter of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA). He has more than 35 years experience in public accounting, and has held various CFO and COO positions.

Gil graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with Highest Honors. Gil graduated first in his class with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. While attending the University of Texas, Gil served as president of several student government and accounting honor organizations. He was also named one of the 33 outstanding students on the UT campus during his last year of study.

Fluent in Spanish, Gil’s work experience includes seven years with one of the Big Four CPA firms as well as holding CFO and COO positions within various companies. He began his public accounting career in auditing for three years, before deciding to specialize in the area of taxes. Gil achieved the designation of Manager during the last two years of his experience and led the firm’s San Antonio, TX tax & emerging businesses practice. Gil was also a consultant with a firm formed to assist the FDIC and FSLIC with the clean up of the financial institution crisis that started in the 1980’s. Since joining ABIP, Gil has headed up the firm’s tax practice although he is heavily involved in consulting as well. In 2006 he was appointed President and Managing Shareholder of ABIP.
